Dental implants make it possible for cosmetic dentists to create healthy, attractive smiles in an innovative way. Implants can be used as a long-term solution for missing teeth. Dental implants can last a lifetime when properly cared for, whereas dental bridges are susceptible to recurrent decay (cavities).

Implants can:

 ·       Improve speech.  Loose fitting dentures or missing teeth can negatively impact your speech. When used in conjunction with removable dentures Dental implants function like normal teeth, so you can speak easy.

·       Assist in eating your favorite foods, pain-free. Eating with missing or damaged teeth is painful, and dentures hinder your natural chewing and biting abilities. Dental implants and implant restorations allow our patients to comfortably enjoy their favorite foods.

·       Promote Greater dental health. Empty spaces caused from losing permanent teeth can harbor food and bacteria, and can also lead to the deterioration of your jaw bone. Dental implants occupy troublesome empty spaces and can preserve and stimulate the natural jaw bone.

Each dental implant is composed of a biocompatible titanium screw and post topped by a crown, bridge or denture.  We surgically place each implant into the jawbone where it replaces the natural tooth root.  In a few months, the implant securely attaches to the bone, allowing it to withstand biting and chewing forces just like a healthy, natural tooth.

Once the implant has been completely integrated with the bone (usually 3-6 months), a post is attached to the implant.   We can then attach a single crown, bridge or denture.  Where traditional dentures fit on the gums and can move for various reasons, an overdenture used with implants is anchored to the jaw as if it had a tooth root creating a more solid fit.
