Build a Dental First Aid Kit

If you’re like many people, you already own a first aid kit. Full of bandages, ointments and more, most first aid kits can dress external wounds in an emergency. But despite all their supplies, most first aid kits are missing some vitally important supplies: dental supplies. Here’s why you should think of your teeth when packing first aid supplies.

Why Get a Dental First Aid Kit?

A dental first aid kit can come in handy if you lose a tooth or filling, fall, or otherwise injure your mouth. How do you know if you need such a kit? Well, here's a rule of thumb: if you have teeth, you can benefit from a dental first aid kit. This is especially true if you participate in a sport or activity that might require a regular first aid kit.

What Should Go in Your Dental First Aid Kit?

While the exact contents of your dental first aid kit are up to you, we recommend you include the following items:

• Gauze
• Oral antiseptic
• Dental floss
• Dental flossers
• Toothpaste
• Toothbrushes
• Oral analgesic
• Filling repair kit
• Cold compress
• Pain reliever
• Rubber gloves
• Small container for lost teeth
• Dentist contact information
• Small dental mirror
